Biography

Catherine Mary Kelley (formerly known as Cathy Faller) was born in Amityville, New York. Her passion for the animal kingdom, especially birds, started early living on diary farms in rural upstate New York and Minnesota. Her childhood pets included cats, horses, an orphaned sheep who lived in the family's farmhouse, and a goose. The Faller family also owned a team of Belgian draft horses who were used for farming, exhibitions, and parades.

Catherine remains dedicated to her compassion for animals by being a member of the Audubon Society, the Northwest Exotic Bird Society, and a Volunteer in the Visiting Pet Friends Program with the Seattle Humane Society of King County. Catherine volunteers her time with her Cockatoo, Maggie, visiting local schools and nursing homes.

Catherine has seen most of the United States through her travels and life in rural communities in New York, Connecticut, Michigan, Minnesota, California, and Washington. She has also vacationed in Canada and Europe. Catherine and her husband currently live outside Seattle, Washington with their three rambunctious parrots.

While attending Seattle University, Catherine volunteered in the Bankruptcy Clinic and the Professional Conduct Review Clinic. Her community services also include volunteer work for the Issaquah Village Theatre, King County Pro Bono Clinics and other charities.

In her spare time, Catherine enjoys bird watching, reading historical fiction, sewing, beadwork cross-stitching, gardening, traveling, and hiking the trails and parks of Washington.
